We prepared this recipe to compliment our Hocus Pocus Brownies but it was sooooo good that I even made cupcakes to use more of this frosting! It is the perfect blend of smooth and creamy, and not too sweet!
- 1 cup softened butter
- 3 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
- 1/2 cup Dutch process cocoa powder
- 3 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- Home Basics Measuring Cups
- Home Basics Measuring Spoons
- Home Basics Spoon
- Home Basics Mixing Bowl
Using an electric mixer cream the softened butter. Starting on low, and increasing to a medium speed cream the butter for about one minute. The butter should be light and fluffy in appearance.
Add in Heavy cream, Salt, Cocoa Powder, and Confectioners' Sugar mix on low for 30 seconds. Using a Home Basics Wooden or Silicone Spoon, push down ingredients from the sides of the bowl.
After the ingredients have been pushed down, turn the mixer on HIGH. Continue to mix frosting for at least 2 minutes. The Frosting should be light and fluffy in appearance.
Cover the Frosting with plastic shrink wrap and allow it to rest before attempting to pipe or frost your treats!
